Edwards, a freshman from Melbourne, Australia, was impressive in the Grizzlies 15-7 loss at Coffeyville on Saturday.
He punted a career-high nine times for an average of 38.0 yards as the offense struggled to sustain drives. Edwards leg kept the Grizzlies in the game as he pinned the Red Ravens deep in their own territory all night.
Six of Edwards punts landed inside the 20-yard line with three of them being downed inside the 10-yard line. One punt was downed at the one-yard line.
Edwards ranks second in the NJCAA in punts downed inside the 20-yard line this season with 21, just one behind the nation's leader James Allen from Trinity Valley. Edwards is fifth in the NJCAA in total punt yards (1,620), 13th in average yards per punt (36.0) and his long punt of 60 yards is tied for the sixth longest punt this year.
He joins wide receiver/punt returner Russell Wilkey who was also named the KJCCC Special teams Player of the Week this season on Sept. 5 after his punt return touchdown against Highland.
Edwards and the Grizzlies play Dodge City on Saturday, Nov. 4th at Memorial Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and produced by BCTV+, the Grizzlies first ever game streamed on any ESPN platform.
