EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler and Coffeyville's rivalry football game was postponed on Saturday due to lightning and rain in the area.
The 99th iteration of the rivalry game between the Grizzlies and Red Ravens was 30 minutes from kickoff when lightning and rain sent the teams into the locker room. Further looks at the forecast for the evening showed the game would be unable to be played Saturday.
The game is tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23rd, with a game time not yet set. That will be the Grizzlies last regular season game of the year and will be the third straight home game they will play to close the season. You can view the updated schedule by clicking here.
The movement of the game means the Grizzlies now have two off weeks with the other coming the week of Oct. 5th, one week after this coming week's game vs. Snow.
Tickets purchased for the postponed Coffeyville game will be honored at the Nov. 23 game. If you are unable to attend that game and would like to request a refund, please reach out to Associate Athletic Director Michaela Serrioz at the following email: mserrioz4@butlercc.edu
Butler returns to the field this Saturday, Sept. 28th, as Snow College comes to town for a 1:30 p.m. showdown. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ as the NJCAA Game of the Week and will be produced by BCTV+. After the game, concert acts will begin with special guests 'Smash Mouth' headlining at 8pm as part of the City of El Dorado's 'Gold Fest'. Tickets for the game can be purchased at ButlerGrizzlies.com/Tickets or at the gate.
