Bio
Isaiah Gray enters his third season as the cornerbacks coach for the Grizzlies ahead of the 2024 season.
In the 2023 season, Gray helped mentor All-KJCCC honorable mention cornerback Semaj James. James (Troy), Ashton Levells (Florida International) and Kaden White (Towson) all inked with NCAA Division 1 programs under Gray's tutelage. Gray helped the Grizzlies defense allow just 167.4 pass yards per game, third lowest in the conference while Butler came away with 10 interceptions.
Gray came to Butler after coaching the last two seasons at Ellsworth Community College. Prior to that he spent the 2019 season at Highland as an assistant coach.
He has coached multiple All-Americans and most recently the ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year at Ellsworth.
Gray played at Highland Community College from 2016-18 and finished his playing career at the University of Central Oklahoma where he also earned his bachelor’s degree.
As a player, Gray had 83 tackles in two seasons at defensive back for the Scotties, while also impacting the punt and kick return game by returning kicks. His freshman campaign he played 11 games and finished as the third leading tackler for the Scotties, while his sophomore season he earned All-KJCCC honors. On top of his 83 tackles, Gray had 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and 13 pass breakups, playing in 18 total games at Highland. After Highland Gray transferred to Division II University of Central Oklahoma where he recorded six tackles and two pass breakups in three games.
Gray is the younger brother of Butler defensive backs coach Maurice Gray.
