Grizzlies seven-game win streak snapped on the road to No. 22 Tigers

The No. 20 ranked Butler Men's Basketball team (11-3, 9-3) suffer their third loss of the season after a 113-93 loss on the road to the No. 22 ranked Cowley Tigers in W.S. Scott Auditorium Wednesday night.

Butler finished out their big stretch of road games Wednesday night in front of an electric crowd and atmosphere in Ark City falling

After suffering a 107-85 loss Saturday on the road to Coffeyville, Cowley was eager to use this as a redemption game. They came out hot going on a 9-0 run to start the game. They led by as many as 18 points in the first half, but the Grizzlies stuck with it and closed the gap to 10 at the half after a fast break dunk from RJ McGarthy.

The Tigers again came out hot in the second making three threes within the first two minutes to increase their lead to 20. The Tiger lead lingered around the 20-point mark for most of the second half until the Grizzlies quietly chipped away at the lead. The got within 13 points under four minutes left, but a turnover would allow the Tigers to get a fast break bucket and Butler's hopes of winning dwindled and eventually the Grizzlies would fall by a 20-point margain. 

Noah Thomasson was a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line and finished with a game high 24 points in the contest. Donyae McCaskill gave the Grizzlies great minutes as he had his best game of the season scoring 17 points and playing 27 minutes. DeeJuan Pruitt finished with 15 points and Shawn Hopkins went for eight points and 10 rebounds.

Cowley shot 53% from three in the first half and finished 15-38 from deep for 40% and went 51% from the floor. They forced 21 Grizzly turnovers and scored 24 points off Butler mistakes. Butler got to the free throw line 50 times in the night, making 38 of them for 76%.

NEXT UP: Butler (11-3, 9-3) will host the No. 2 ranked Red Ravens of Coffeyville on Saturday, March 13 at 7:30pm in the Power Plant. Coffeyville is coming off their first loss of the season as they fell to Independence on the road Wednesday night at the buzzer.
