Four Grizzlies earn All-Conference awards

Story by Wyatt Ebersole

After winning their first Region VI Championship since the 2010 campaign, four Butler Men's Basketball players have received All-Conference honors.

Isaiah Williams, the Grizzlies sophomore forward from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was named to both the All-KJCCC Second Team and the All-KJCCC Defensive team. Williams had a great season on both end of the floor, averaging 12.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game this season. Williams was named the KJCCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week back on February 7th after recording a week with two double-doubles.

Rob Brown, the Grizzlies sophomore guard from Albany, New York, was named to the All-KJCCC Second Team for his efforts this season. Brown was the Grizzlies leading scorer on the season, averaging 12.9 points per game. Brown was an electric scorer all season scoring 20+ points in seven different games this season. Rob was also the Grizzlies top three-point shooter this season, shooting 38.1% from behind the arc this year.

Isaac Ondekane, the Grizzlies sophomore center from Congo, Africa, was named to the All-KJCCC Second Team after a year that saw him average 10 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. A consistent threat in the paint all year, Isaac was fantastic in the post and was not afraid to score through contact consistently drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line.

Tahjae Hill, the Grizzlies sophomore guard/forward combo from Hilton, New York was named an All-KJCCC Honorable Mention selection for his efforts this season. Hill averaged 11.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season. Hill was the Grizzlies sparkplug and sixth man off the bench this season, often coming up with big points in big moments for the Grizzlies this season. After scoring 20 points in the Grizzlies big comeback win on the road against Coffeyville on November 30th, Hill was named the KJCCC Player of the Week on December 6th.

These players helped lead the Grizzlies to their first Region VI and Plains District title in over a decade and they will appear at the NJCAA National Tournament on March 20th when they take on Roane State at 4:30PM at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
