Opurum Nabs Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Honor
Opurum Ends Regular Season With Conference Award
For the first time this season, a Butler men's basketball player has been named the NJCAA Division 1 Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week.
Emeka Opurum, a freshman forward from Lagos, Nigeria, earned the honor for the Grizzlies following his big performance in Butler's upset of the fifth ranked Cowley Tigers in the final regular season game of the year at the Power Plant.

The freshman finished with a massive double-double of 18 points and 19 rebounds, also blocking two shots. He was 8-14 from the field in 33 minutes played. Opurum converted on a layup with 3 seconds remaining in the game, plus a foul to help the Grizzlies get the win over the KJCCC regular season champion Tigers.
For the season, Opurum leads the Jayhawk Conference shooting 67.2% from the field as well as averaging 2.6 blocks per game.
The Grizzlies will take on Hutchinson at the Sports Arena on Tuesday evening at 7:30 in a Region 6 Quarterfinal matchup.
