Butler ‘bigs’ combine for 41 points in the Grizzlies 86-57 win over Cloud County

Tamara Nard, Paris Mullins and Kaylee Nero all scored in double figures and combined for 41 points as the Butler Grizzlies controlled the T-Birds Monday night in Concordia claiming their ninth win of the season.

After sweeping the KJCCC West, the Butler Grizzlies, 9-0 overall and 8-0 in KJCCC picked up their first KJCCC East win Monday night as they knocked down Cloud County 86-57.

"I was extremely happy with how we played tonight," said head coach Mike Helmer. "We have played well in this building before but not this good. We finally looked like the team I know we can be, and we kept with it all four quarters."

Butler commanded the floor the entire game but really spread it out in the second quarter when they outscored the T-Birds 22-4. A 27 point third quarter by the Grizzlies would put it to rest as Butler cruised to 29 point road win.

Tamara Nard posted her season high in points leading all scorers with 17 points. She eyed a double-double finishing with nine rebounds and recorded five blocks. Skyla Knight had 15 points to go along with her four rebounds and four steals. Paris Mullins finished with 13 points and Kaylee Nero added in 11 on the night.

For the first time this season, the Grizzlies allowed a team to shoot over 30% with Cloud hitting 33% of their shots on the night. It didn't matter as Butler forced 33 turnovers and scored 42 points off of the T-Bird mishaps.

NEXT UP: Butler will head to Independence on Saturday, February 27 for a 2:00pm tip-off. The Pirates are currently in second place in the KJCCC East behind the Grizzlies. A Butler win on Saturday would put Butler three games ahead in the East.

NOTES: Most blocks in a game (9) since February 24, 2019 vs. Neosho…Tied most points scored in a game this season at 86… First game allowing an opponent to shoot 30%+ from the floor.
