Skyla Knight named KJCCC Div. I Women’s Basketball ‘Player of the Week’
Butler sophomore guard Skyla Knight was named the Week 6, Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I Women's Basketball 'Player of the Week' announced the conference office Wednesday morning.
The sophomore transfer from Arkansas Little Rock, and native to Los Angeles, Ca, helped lead the Grizzlies to a pair of road wins last week keeping their winning streak alive at 10-0 this season. Knight scored 15 points Monday night in Concordia collecting four steals while making 7-8 free throws. On Saturday, Knight led all scorers with 18 points in the Grizzlies 22-point road win over Independence. Knight finished with seven rebounds and four steals in her 26 minutes played. Knight is averaging 14.7 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 2.6 steals per game, 2.4 assists per game and 29.6 minutes per game on the year land has led the No. 9 Butler Grizzlies to the top spot in the KJCCC East.
Knight's defense has helped the Grizzlies maintain the best overall field goal percentage defense in the nation for a majority of the season. The Grizzlies are holding their opponents to shooting 26.2% on the season. They are third in 3PT % holding their opponents to 18%.
Knight will lace it up for her 11th time in a Grizzly uniform on Wednesday, March 3 as Butler will host the Neosho Panthers at 5;30pom in the Power Plant in El Dorado, KS.
