Grizzlies fall short at Independence in final regular season game

Syncere Harrod's 13 points were not enough as the Grizzlies fell just short against Independence on the road in the final game of the regular season, dropping a 59-52 affair on Wednesday evening.

Independence outscored Butler 17-8 in the final quarter to pull away in a game that was a one possession contest at halftime, with the Pirates taking a three point lead into the locker room. The Pirates hit clutch threes to secure the victory, finishing with 10 buckets from beyond the arc.

Three Grizzly players scored in double figures, led by Harrod. Cymirah Williams' 11 and Jada Knight's 10 were big boosts for Butler, who finished at 40% from the field.

The loss snaps a two game losing streak, and drops Butler to a record of 17-12 and 12-12 in conference play. The Grizzlies will be the ninth seed in the Region VI tournament and will head to Garden City on Saturday, to face a Broncbuster team that they dispatched by 20 points when the two teams played each other just last week. That tip is slated for 6:00pm in Conestoga Arena.
