The Butler Grizzlies continued their hot start to the season as they won their eighth straight game travelling to Pratt and defeating the Beavers 84-75 in an offensive barnburner at the Beaver Dome on Saturday.
It's the third straight season that the Grizzlies have won their first eight games to start the year. The Grizzlies are also now unbeaten against the Beavers since 2011, racking up 20 consecutive victories in that span.
Freddie Wallace stole the show again. She finished with 30 points, a new career high for the true freshman. It's her third time this season scoring more than 20 points, also grabbing 11 rebounds for the double-double. She also led the team in steals with three.
Wallace was joined by Syncere Harrod, who also found a season high, coming off the bench for 17 points.
The Grizzlies shot 42%, scoring all of their field goals inside the three point line. Butler was helped by 22 points from the free throw line, shooting 71% from the charity stripe.
The Grizzlies outrebounded the Beavers, nearly doubling up Pratt on the glass, 47-27. Butler also forced 12 turnovers and found 13 points off of those turnovers.
With the victory, the Grizzlies improved to 4-0 in conference play and they are now 8-0 on the year. It will be a trip to rival Coffeyville next up for Mike Helmer's squad as the Red Ravens will host the Grizzlies on Tuesday.
