Wallace earns Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Honors

Freddie Wallace's big week in the paint in last week's games against Northwest Tech and Pratt has earned her Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Honors

Wallace, the Grizzlies 6'3, true freshman forward from Lincoln, Nebraska was dominant for the Grizzlies in their two wins last week. Wallace began her big week on Tuesday at home against Northwest Tech where she dropped in 19 points on a very efficient 8/12 shooting mark. Wallace was also causing problems on the defensive end in the game as she finished with three steals and a block. Wallace's monster performance of the week came on Saturday against the Pratt Beavers where she scored 30 points and controlled the glass by pulling in 11 rebounds. Freddie also added a block and three steals in the contest. On the week, Wallace averaged an impressive 24.5 points and a very respectable 7 rebounds per game. Wallace has been on fire all season as she is averaging 20.1 points and is pulling in 7 rebounds per game, both marks lead the Grizzlies this season. With Freddie leading the way in scoring, and rebounding, the Grizzlies have jumped out to an 8-0 start to the season and are the only undefeated team remaining in the Jayhawk Conference.

Wallace's 20 points per game mark so far this year is especially impressive as no Grizzly since at least 2011 has managed to average 20 points per game over an entire season. The most any Grizzly has averaged since the 2011 season was 19.6 by Ashley Gibson during the 2014-15 season.

This is Wallace's first Player of the Week selection of her Butler career, and she is the first Grizzly Women's Basketball player to earn Player of the Week honors since November 30th, 2021, when MeKayla Furman earned the honor.
