Freddie Wallace earns back-to-back KJCCC Player of the Week awards

Story by Wyatt Ebersole

Freddie Wallace's explosive scoring week last week has earned her back-to-back Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Awards.

Wallace, the Grizzlies 6'3 freshman forward from Lincoln, Nebraska, continued her recent stretch of dominance this past week in the Grizzlies wins over rivals Coffeyville and Hutchinson. Against Coffeyville on Wednesday, Freddie scored a new collegiate career best of 31 points while also pulling in seven rebounds in the Grizzlies victory over the Red Ravens. Against Hutchinson on Saturday, Wallace again put up another impressive scoring effort, scoring 24 points including 12 in the first quarter that gave the Grizzlies an early lead that they would never relinquish. Freddie posted her best of the season so far averaging 27.5 points and 7 rebounds while shooting over 60% from the field. Wallace is Grizzlies leading scorer and rebounder on the year and the Butler Women have now won ten straight games.

Freddie is the only Grizzly to earn this award this season, having now won it three times. She is the first Grizzly Women's Basketball Player to win the award more than one time in a season since the 2019-20 season when Tamara Nard won the award twice. She is one of two Butler Athletes this season to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks, matched only by Butler Soccer's Kyrah Klumpp who won the award five times this season.
