After another storied year of winning in the history of Butler Women's Basketball, two Grizzly players have earned All-Conference, postseason honors this year.
Freddie Wallace, the Grizzlies 6'3 freshman forward from Lincoln, Nebraska was the Jayhawk Conference Freshman of the Year for the 2022-23 season. In her freshman campaign, Wallace led the Grizzlies in scoring and rebounding on the season, averaging 17.1 points per game as well as 6.8 rebounds per game. She received Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Honors three different times this year and she was named the NJCAA National Women's Basketball Player of the Week on February 8th. In addition to being named freshman of the year, Wallace is also a member of the All-KJCCC First Team.
Maycee James, the Grizzlies 5'7 freshman guard from Goddard, Kansas had an exceptional first year for the Grizzlies. James was named to both the All-KJCCC Second team and the All-KJCCC Women's Basketball Defensive team. James was a do it all player this year for the Grizzlies, averaging 6.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. Her 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game numbers led all Grizzlies this year.
These ladies helped lead the Grizzlies to their tenth 20+ win season in the last eleven years and they helped the team advance to the Region VI Semifinals for the fourth time in the five seasons.
