Freddie Wallace selected as NJCAA All-American

Story by Wyatt Ebersole

Butler Women's Basketball freshman star Freddie Wallace was named to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball All-American Third Team when the teams were announced on Tuesday afternoon. Wallace earns the honor after a season which saw her average 17.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, both marks led the Grizzlies on the year. Wallace helped lead the Grizzlies to 24 wins on the year, their highest single season mark since the 2019-20 season, and she helped the Grizzlies reach the Region VI Final Four for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Wallace, the 6'3 freshman forward from Lincoln, Nebraska, has garnered multiple awards this season, both in and after the season. She was named as Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week three different times this year and she was named the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week back on February 8th. In terms of post season awards, Wallace was named the Jayhawk Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year and she was selected as a finalist for World Exposure Reports NJCAA Division 1 Freshman of the Year Award.

Freddie is the 12th All-American in the history of Butler Women's Basketball and she is the first Butler Women's Basketball player to earn NJCAA All-American Honors since Skyla Knight and Tamara Nard were named All-Americans after the 2020-21 season.

Freddie is the seventh Grizzly this year to be named to an NJCAA All-American team, joining Butler Soccer's Brooklyn Hunter, Butler Volleyball's Ivy Fink and Kennedy Kelly, and Butler Football's A.J King and Azhuan Dingle.
