EL DORADO, Kan. – The sixth ranked Butler women's basketball team squared off with NOC-Enid for a second time of the young season on Wednesday night at the Power Plant and came away with a 73-36 victory.
The second meeting between the two teams went much differently than the first. In the first game, Butler trailed by 15 at half before squeezing out a 68-61 win on the road in Enid. In the second meeting, the Grizzlies (5-0) led at the half before cruising to a 37-point win over the Jets (1-3).
Sophomore guard Randi Harding led all scorers with 14 points, knocking down four threes. Sophomore forward Tiana Winn posted her first double-double as a Grizzly, totaling 12 points and 11 rebounds to go with two steals and two blocks. Sophomore guard Maycee James had her hand in everything, finishing with nine points, seven rebounds, seven steals and three assists.
As a team Butler was 6-17 (35.3%) from three, their best mark all season (over five attempts minimum). Enid stayed true to form, shooting better from beyond the arc (6-20, 20%) than on two-point shots (12-49, 24.5%). On the season they are 31.1% from the field and 47.7% from three.
The third quarter is what broke the game open for Butler. After leading 26-21 at halftime, they outscored the Jets 26-8 in the third quarter to take a 52-29 lead into the fourth quarter. Butler did not allow Enid to score in the second half until there was 2:36 remaining in the third quarter.
The Jets were led by Sawyer Stockton's nine points. Rachel Fischer led them with eight rebounds.
Butler returns to action on Saturday at the Power Plant at 2 p.m. vs. NOC-Tonkawa in their second meeting this season. Butler defeated the Lady Mavs 90-54 in Enid previously. It will be Butler's final non-conference tune-up as KJCCC play begins on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Northwest Technical.
