EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler women's basketball cruised to a 67-52 victory over the Pratt Beavers on Wednesday evening at the Power Plant.
Butler (21-7, 15-7 KJCCC) is back in the win column after a road loss at Indy. They got the regular season series sweep of the Beavers (13-15, 7-15). The Grizzly faithful were out in full force including the Butler football team who made noise all evening.
"Those dudes were awesome," said head coach Mike Helmer. "They changed the atmosphere."
Freddie Wallace poured in 25 points and snagged 15 rebounds for Butler. J'unti Franklin had a double-double of 10 points and 11 assists and Jada Hopson scored eight and grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench.
Butler held Pratt to 29.9% shooting from the field. They outscored Pratt 46-16 in the paint.
"Defensively we made them take tough shots," Helmer said. "If we can do that and rebound the way we did we will be in good shape."
Butler outscored Pratt 23-10 in the second quarter and 24-13 in the fourth.
"We have to play defense," said Helmer. "We're nearly undefeated when we hold teams to under 65 points. We'll continue to work on that and if we play that way we will be great."
Butler returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cloud County.
