Wallace Named an NJCAA All-American for 2nd Straight Season

Butler women's basketball sophomore forward Freddie Wallace was named a second team NJCAA All-American on Tuesday, the NJCAA announced.

Wallace is now a two-time All-American for the Grizzlies as she garnered third team All-American honors as a freshman in 2023. She joins Tamara Nard (2020-21) as the only Grizzly women's basketball student-athletes to be two-time All-Americans.

Wallace, a Lincoln, Neb., native was also named first team All-KJCCC as she led Butler in both points (18.4) and rebounds (7.3) per game. She was second in the KJCCC in scoring per game and 15th in NJCAA Division 1.

Wallace became Butler's all-time scoring leader on March 6th in a win over Cowley at the Power Plant. She connected on a layup off an assist from Maycee James at the 5:58 mark of the third quarter, giving her 1,087 career points. She surpassed Jamillah Bonner's 1,086 career points she achieved from 2012-13. For her two-year Grizzly career, Wallace totaled 1,138 points.

Throughout the 2023-24 season, Wallace scored 20 or more points in 14 different games, helping Butler to a berth in the Region VI title game in Hutchinson and a 25-8 overall record. She was also named to the Region VI All-Tournament team.

The recognition marks her as the the ninth All-American in Butler women's basketball history.

Wallace is one of three Jayhawk Conference players to land on All-American teams as Hutchinson's Kiki Smith was on the first team and Dodge City's Paris Santecaterina was a third team honoree.
