Women’s Basketball Projected to Finish 5th in Jayhawk Preseason Poll
COLBY, Kan. – Butler women’s basketball was picked to finish fifth in the 2024-25 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Basketball predicted order of finish.

The 13 head coaches across the league voted on the preseason poll that saw defending national champion Hutchinson predicted to go back-to-back winning the conference. Dodge City, Barton, Garden City and Butler round out the top five.

Butler is coming off a season where they finished 25-8, 17-7 and lost 54-52 in the Region 6 championship game, narrowly missing out on an NJCAA National Tournament berth. They finished with five All-KJCCC players, one All-American in Freddie Wallace and eight of the 11 student-athletes earned scholarships and are playing at the four-year level.
Head coach Mike Helmer (359-147) begins his 17th season leading the Grizzlies, joined by assistant coaches Ericka Mattingly, Abby Fawcett and Tanesha Daniels.
The Grizzlies return just one player to this year's team in sophomore guard Alba Cunill. The team is made up of eight freshmen and four sophomores, with three players transferring in from other collegiate institutions. You can view the full roster here.

Butler opens its season on Friday, Nov. 1st, taking on NEO A&M at the Coffeyville Classic. The first home game for Butler is Wednesday, Nov. 20th at 5:30 p.m. when NOC-Tonkawa visits the Power Plant.
