EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler women's basketball is set to return to play on Saturday as they host Coffeyville at 2 p.m. from the Power Plant in a Jayhawk Conference matchup.

The Grizzlies and Red Ravens enter Saturday's contest with identical 10-2, 5-2 records. They are tied for third place in the Jayhawk Conference standings. The two teams split the two games a season ago with each team winning on the road. They have split games the past three seasons. The last time a team swept the other was 2020-21 when the Red Ravens won both games.

The Grizzlies, receiving votes in the latest NJCAA rankings, will play for the first time in 21 days following the holiday break. Butler (10-2, 5-2) has won four consecutive games, going 4-0 in the month of December with home wins over Barton, Fort Hays Tech and Colby and a road win at Independence to cap off the first semester. The four-game win streak came after Butler dropped two consecutive road contests, at Seward and Dodge City. They were the first and only losses of the season, moving the Grizzlies to 6-2 at the time.

The Red Ravens went 2-2 in the month of December with a loss to No. 1 Hutchinson on the road as well as falling to Cloud County at home. They defeated Garden City in Garden and Cowley at home. The last game of the semester for the Ravens was an 81-73 overtime win over Cowley. The Ravens faced an 18-point deficit before storming back in the second half to earn the win. Norika Welch scored a season-high 27 points while Karys Washington had 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The two teams have played four common opponents this season in Connors State, NEO A&M, Colby and Independence. Butler is 4-0 vs those opponents while Coffeyville is 5-0, defeating NEO twice.

Freshman guard Keegan Yarick leads Butler in scoring this season, averaging 13.1 points per game and shooting 46.0% from three. Yarick has scored 20+ in three games and 10+ in seven games. Fellow freshman guard Ashley Singhateh is also averaging double digit points with 11.8, shooting 47.1% from the field. She leads Butler with 3.3 free throws made per game. Singhateh also averages 4.6 rebounds per game and 2.8 assists per game. Butler averages 77.0 points per game and allows just 48.3 points per game. They outrebound opponents at a +15.1 clip and force 25.6 turnovers per game.

Yarick's 46.0 clip from three ranks second best in the KJCCC followed by sophomore guard Alba Cunill's 44.8% which is third best. Freshman forward Kenzie Galliart's 83.3% free throw percentage is fourth best in the league and freshman guard Mya Mayberry's 4.2 assists per game is fourth best in the conference.

Coffeyville also has two players that score in double figures led by Karys Washington's 13.4 points per game. Karliey Parker averages 11.9 points per game. Washington pulls down 8.8 rebounds per game, sixth best in the Jayhawk. The Ravens average 65.9 points per game while allowing 49.7. They out rebound opponents at a 14.4 margin per game.

Next up for the Grizzlies is the No. 1 ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons who visit the Power Plant on Wednesday, Jan. 8th, for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
