Singhateh, Galliart Power Butler to 52 Point Win at Pratt

Butler moves to 14-4, 9-4 in league play while Pratt drops to 6-13, 1-12 in KJCCC action. The Grizzlies swept the season series after previously defeating the Beavers 103-40 at the Power Plant on Nov. 23rd. It marks the Grizzlies third straight win, their third time this season stringing together three or more wins.
A pair of freshmen in guard Ashley Singhateh and forward Kenzie Galliart led the Grizzlies as Singhateh dropped a season-high 27 points on 12-17 shooting, connecting on a season-high three triples. She has scored 20-plus points in three of her last four games. Galliart posted an impressive 23-point, 21-rebound double-double, both season-highs. Her 20/20 point/rebound performance is the first in head coach Mike Helmer's 17-year tenure at Butler.
The Grizzlies outrebounded Pratt 58-24 and forced 21 Beaver turnovers. The Grizzly defense held Pratt to 25.5% shooting from the field and just 5-30 (16.7%) from distance.
All five Butler starters scored in double figures as sophomore forward Lucia Lara finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, freshman guard Keegan Yarick added 14 points, six rebounds and three steals and freshman guard Destiny Smith chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
The Beavers tied the game 6-6 early on a made three from Sofia Bermejo but a Smith jumper put Butler back on top 8-6 and they led the remainder of the game. Butler led by 20 at halftime, 44-24, and outscored Pratt 30-11 in the third quarter. The biggest Butler lead came at the end of the game, the 52-point advantage.
Pratt was led by La'Kyra Johnson's 11 points while Dana Imankulova pulled down six rebounds.
The Grizzlies return home to the Power Plant on Wednesday, Jan. 29th, as they host the Seward Saints at 5:30 p.m. In the first matchup, Butler fell short in Liberal 63-57.
