Butler Runs Away From Fort Hays Tech Northwest

The Grizzlies (17-5, 12-5 KJCCC) picked up their second consecutive win of 40 or more points with the 54-point beatdown of the Tigers (1-21, 1-17). Butler sits in sole possession of fourth place in the Jayhawk Conference, two games behind third place Coffeyville.
Fort Hays hit a three two minutes into the game to cut the Grizzly lead to 4-3. It turned out to be the only points of the quarter for the Tigers as Butler outscored them 23-3 in the quarter shooting 9-16 from the field and 3-6 from distance as freshman guard Keegan Yarick poured in 12 first quarter points.
The second quarter saw the Tigers outscore Butler 10-8 to head to halftime trailing 31-13. The Grizzlies shot just 3-11 in the quarter.
Butler's defense locked down Fort Hays Tech in the second half allowing just six total points and shutting them out in the fourth quarter entirely. The Tigers were 0-16 from the field in the fourth quarter.
Yarick finished with a game-high 22 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and three steals. It was her fifth 20+ point performance of the season. Freshman forward Kenzie Galliart added 21 points and nine rebounds while freshman guard Ashley Singhateh had 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Lucia Lara pulled down 11 rebounds.
Al'asia Brown led the Tigers with seven points and five rebounds.
Butler shot 50% from the field (30-60) with the Tigers shooting just 8.9% (5-56). The Grizzlies outrebounded them 55-19 and outscored them in the paint 40-4.
Next up for Butler is a quick turnaround as they travel to Colby on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. tipoff in a rescheduled game due to weather.
