Defense Paves the Way for Grizzlies 3rd Straight Victory

Playing for the second time in two days, the Grizzly (18-5, 13-5 KJCCC) defense held Colby (13-11, 8-10) to 22.6% shooting from the field and 34 points, tying their season-low that the Grizzlies held them to the first go around on Dec. 11th at the Power Plant in a 69-34 win.
Butler trailed 12-10 after one quarter but used an 18-8 second quarter to take a 28-20 lead to the locker room. The Grizzlies seized the game in the third quarter holding Colby to just three points to take a 42-23 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Grizzlies forced 27 turnovers, scoring 17 points off the takeaways. Butler shot 22-61 from the field (36.1%), 3-18 from three (16.7%) and 3-11 (27.3%) from the free throw line.
Ashley Singhateh led the way with 11 points, five rebounds and two steals. Destiny Smith finished with nine points and seven rebounds while Lucia Lara led the team with eight rebounds, chipping in five points and three assists. Keegan Yarick added six points, five rebounds and three assists.
Colby's Sophie Bennett led the Trojans with 11 points while Easha Potts grabbed 11 rebounds.
Butler has won three straight games and is a game and a half back from third place Coffeyville (14-3).
The Grizzlies next action comes on Saturday when they host Independence at 2 p.m. in the Power Plant.
