Singhateh Named KJCCC Freshman of the Year, 4 Grizzlies Earn All-Conference Honors
Ashley Singhateh Honored as League's Top Freshman
The 2024-25 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women's Basketball postseason awards were released on Wednesday and four Grizzly freshmen received recognition.

Freshman guard Ashley Singhateh was named the KJCCC Freshman of the Year following her impressive opening campaign in El Dorado. Singhateh, a Maize native, made a major impact by starting 29 of Butler's 31 games and averaging nearly 28 minutes per contest to go along with 13.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for a Grizzly squad that finished in the top four of the KJCCC regular season standings and qualified for the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament semifinals. Shooting over 45 percent from the field, Singhateh finished in double-figures in scoring 10 times this season with seven games scoring 20 or more points this season.

Singhateh was a First Team All-KJCCC pick as well. Fellow freshman guard Keegan Yarick was a second team All-KJCCC selection while a pair of freshmen forwards in Kenzie Galliart and Lucia Lara garnered honorable mention honors.
Yarick, a freshman from Fort Scott, was one of three freshmen on the 10-player second team. She finished the season averaging 12.4 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game. She had 20 games scoring in double figures and five notching 20 or more points. She started 27 of the Grizzlies 31 games this season.
Galliart, a freshman forward from Overland Park, shot 49% from the field averaging 9.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. She started 29 of Butler's 31 games finishing with 13 double digit scoring performances including a 23-point, 21-rebound double-double at Pratt on Jan. 25th.
Lara, a freshman from Córdoba, Spain, came on in the back half of the season. She averaged 7.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game with the 7.0 rebounds per game leading Butler. She started 25 games for the Grizzlies and had three double-doubles down the stretch. Lara scored in double figures in four out of Butler's last five regular season games.
Hutchinson's Hailey Jackson was the league's MVP while Cowley's Elysa Martinez was the Newcomer of the Year. Seward's Ari Gordon and Dodge City's Shorna Preston shared Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors and the Conquistador's Landon Steele was the Coach of the Year.
Butler finished the season with a 23-8 overall record and 17-7 in league play earning the four-seed in the Region 6 Tournament. They advanced to the semifinals of the Region Tournament before bowing out to top seed Dodge City.
