The 2024-25 season marks Tanesha Daniels' first on staff with the Grizzlies. Daniels brings experience coaching at the NJCAA level as well as multiple years coaching within the KJCCC.

Prior to Butler, Daniels spent one season (2023-24) on staff at Seward County Community College as an assistant coach as she helped the Lady Saints to a 17-15 overall record and 12-12 mark in Jayhawk Conference play. Daniels was instrumental in scouting, recruiting, strength and conditioning as well as having a heavy emphasis in player development. She helped freshman forward Allie Myers finish fifth in the nation pulling down 13.0 rebounds per game as well as setting a Seward County single season rebounding record with 387 total boards. Daniels helped four student-athletes sign on to play at the next level. The Saints advanced to the second round of the Region 6 Tournament before bowing out to Butler in the Power Plant.

Daniels spent a season (2022-23) as the lead assistant coach at Ranger College, an NJCAA school located in Ranger, Texas. Ranger finished 14-17 that season as Daniels role on staff at Ranger consisted of recruiting, player development, academic liaison, opponent scouting, strength and conditioning, as well as being a liaison for housing.

Daniels spent two years at KJCCC foe Independence Community College as an assistant coach (2020-2022) under head coach Jim Turgeon. Her primary role was Director of Basketball Operations. Daniels scouted opponents which included creating scouting reports and breaking down film, recruited future student-athletes, helped with individual player development primarily working with post players, oversaw strength and conditioning workouts and oversaw the student workers/managers involved in the women’s program. Her first season on staff (2020-21) saw the Pirates finish 20-7, good for a third place finish in the KJCCC and a Region 6 title, the first at Indy since 1996. The Pirates went on to the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock, TX. Her second season on staff (2021-22) saw Independence finish 24-7, winning the KJCCC championship. Seven different student-athletes went on to play at the next level.

Eastern Arizona College is where Daniel's coaching experience began in 2019. During the 2019-20 season the Gila Monsters finished 21-11 overall and 13-9 in conference play with Daniels on staff. Two players received All-Region honors. Her role at EAC was to create scouting reports, break down film, create highlight tapes for players and oversee the strength and conditioning program. Her main responsibility was the development of the post players while also focusing on the overall team defense.

Daniels' playing career began at Salt Lake Community College under head coach Betsy Specketer. Daniels' squads at SLCC won 26+ games in both seasons as well as back-to-back SWAC championships. As a freshman (2013-14), she played in 34 games while averaging 3.6 rebounds per game and 3.9 points per game. As a sophomore (2014-15), she played in 34 games while starting 33, averaging 9.7 rebounds per game and 5.8 points per game. Daniels was named the team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore while being a team captain. She graduated from SLCC in 2015 with an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice.

The next stop in the playing career of Daniels was NCAA Division 1 Grand Canyon University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies in 2017. While at GCU, she was a part of two 15+ winning game seasons under the direction of Coach Trent May.

After graduating from GCU in 2017, Daniels moved to Florida and worked at Impact Basketball Academy, a prep school for boys and girls in Sarasota. At IBA, she was the assistant coach for the girls’ team and the assistant coach for the boys’ prep team.

In 2018, Daniels moved to Newcastle, England, where she played for Newcastle University in the BUCS league under Coach Mark Elderkin. During her time in England, she averaged 20.3 points per game, 12.5 rebounds per game, 6.2 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game.

Daniels hails from Brigham City, Utah, and graduated from Fremont High School in Plain City, Utah, in 2013. Daniels lettered three years in basketball, helping her team to the state tournament each season. As a sophomore, Daniels was named All-State Honorable Mention. She was a Second Team All-State pick as a junior and named to the 5A Senior All-Star team while being the lone senior on her team. She was also a part of the track and field team as a thrower, winning the state championship in the shot put as a junior.

Daniels' family consists of her mother Angie and father Jeff as well as nine siblings, Jessi, TJ, Derek, Kolton, Marssi, Meagan, Tanner, Kooper and Joe.
