Grizzlies sweep Seward on the road

LIBERAL, Kan. – Butler volleyball went on the road and swept Seward CC, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-13) at The Greenhouse on Wednesday evening.

The Grizzlies (12-9, 4-3 KJCCC) moved to 4-3 in KJCCC play with the win. Seward dropped to 11-10 and 3-5 in conference action. Butler is now 2-1 on the road in KJCCC matches. The 3-0 sweep was Butler's eighth sweep this season.

Sophomore middle blocker Sydney Lentz posted a team-high tying 12 kills on a team-high .750 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter Sarah Sullivan also had 12 kills to go with three digs. The reigning KJCCC setter of the week and NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week, freshman setter Anja Milosevic, had a team-high 38 assists, eight digs, four aces and two blocks.

Butler got progressively better with their swings throughout the match, hitting .394 in the first set, .444 in the second and .483 in the third and final.

Freshman middle blocker Raven Boone led Butler with four blocks to go with nine kills of her own.

The Grizzlies set the tone early, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in set one. They kept Seward at a distance throughout the set with the closest the Saints cut the deficit to being five.

Set two went down to the wire as Butler led late by just a point at 18-17. Butler closed out strong though to take set two 25-20.

The third set saw Butler jump ahead 10-8. They then went on a 6-1 run to go ahead 16-9 and eventually won the set 25-13.

Butler's next KJCCC action is on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Pratt with first serve at 6:30 p.m.
