Grizzly Volleyball sweeps Pratt on the Road

PRATT, Kan. – Butler volleyball went on the road and completed a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-21) sweep of the Pratt Beavers at the Beaver Dome on Wednesday evening.

The sweep of Pratt (7-15, 0-9 KJCCC) was the second this season for Butler (13-9, 5-3 KJCCC) as they previously swept the Beavers on Sept. 2 at the Power Plant. Pratt remains winless in KJCCC play, sitting in last place. Butler is currently in third place behind Barton (8-1) and Hutchinson (7-3). Butler has now swept two straight conference opponents.

Freshman setter Anja Milosevic had a double-double with 26 assists and 11 digs, her eighth double-double this season. Freshman outside hitter Sarah Sullivan had a team-high 13 kills to go with six digs. Sophomore middle blocker Sydney Lentz had a team-high seven blocks while sophomore outside hitter Greta Santini had seven kills and nine digs. Freshman middle blocker Raven Boone added eight kills. Freshman defensive specialist Laynee Brown had a team-high 12 digs.

The Grizzlies held Pratt to .000 hitting in the first set, .029 in the second and .167 in the third. Butler hit a match-high .273 in its 25-21 set three win.

In the first set Butler was ahead 13-9 before exploding on a 5-0 run to go up 18-9. They allowed Pratt to score only four more points in the 25-13 set one win. Set three was the closest as the Beavers went on multiple runs. Butler led 17-11 but Pratt kept at it and lost the set by its closest margin, 25-21.

Butler returns to action on Monday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Power Plant as Dodge City comes to town.
