Volleyball Wins 4th-Straight, Defeats Dodge City on the Road in 4 Sets

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Butler volleyball picked an opportune time to go on its longest winning streak of the season as they defeated Dodge City, 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 25-14) at the Student Activity Center for their fourth-straight win on Wednesday evening.

Butler (17-11, 9-5 KJCCC) is currently in fourth place in the KJCCC standings, just one game back of second place. They have two matches remaining, both at home, before Region VI playoffs begin. Dodge City (15-15, 6-9 KJCCC) sits in seventh place.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 2-0 match lead, winning 25-21 and 25-22 in the first and second sets. Dodge City won the third set, 26-24, but the Grizzlies responded with a big set four to claim the match, winning 25-14. Butler hit a match-high .469 in the decisive fourth set.

Maria Eduarda Motta led Butler with 14 kills, finishing with a double-double also adding 13 digs. Sydney Lentz posted 11 kills and a team-high five blocks. She swung at a team-high .455 clip. Anja Milosevic had a team-high 44 assists and Laynee Brown had a team-high 28 assists.

The Grizzlies avenged their previous loss to Dodge City on Oct. 9th at home, splitting the season series with the Conquistadors.

Butler hosts Seward on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT for sophomore day as well as a truck or treat at 1 p.m. inside the Power Plant.
