Butler Volleyball Picked 4th in KJCCC Preseason Coaches Poll
COLBY, Kan. – The 2024 KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball preseason order of finish was released by the league on Monday and the Grizzlies were picked fourth.
COLBY, Kan. – The 2024 KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball preseason order of finish was released by the league on Monday and the Grizzlies were picked fourth.
Barton was picked to win the league and defend their 2023 regular season title with 2023 Region 6 champion Colby picked second and Dodge City picked third in front of the Grizzlies. Click here to view the full release from the KJCCC.
Last season Butler was picked to win the conference in the preseason poll after they had claimed at least a share of the previous two regular season conference titles in 2021 and 2022. Butler finished fourth in the regular season standings (20-13, 10-6 KJCCC) and advanced all the way to the Region 6 championship match for a third straight season, ultimately falling to Colby in four sets.
Butler is led by Lisa Lechtenberg in her seventh season. Lechtenberg holds an overall record of 129-66 with the Grizzlies. She is assisted by Tessa Cosby who will also begin her seventh season on staff.
Butler returns eight student-athletes from the 2023 roster including all-conference players in setter Anja Milosevic (first team All-KJCCC) and middle blocker Raven Boone (second team All-KJCCC). The Grizzlies also return their 2023 kills leader Sarah Sullivan and 2023 digs leader in Laynee Brown. You can view the full roster by clicking here.
Butler opens its season in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as they will take part in Iowa Western's Reiver Classic from Aug. 23-24. Following the tournament the Grizzlies return home for their home and conference opener as Hutchinson comes to town on Aug. 28th for a 6 p.m. match That match will serve as a "Pack the Plant in Purple" night with purple bandanas being given out and all fans encouraged to wear purple.
