Grizzlies Drop 4th Straight on the Road in Liberal
LIBERAL, Kan. – Butler volleyball suffered its fourth straight loss as they fell 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 22-25) to Seward County at The Greenhouse.
LIBERAL, Kan. – Butler volleyball suffered its fourth straight loss as they fell 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 22-25) to Seward County at The Greenhouse.
All three sets were played close for Butler (5-7, 1-3 KJCCC) but they could not get over the hump as Seward (5-7, 2-1) won their second straight conference match.
The first set saw both teams lead throughout. Seward built out a 19-15 lead but Butler fought back to cut it to 24-23 before Seward closed out the set with a kill.
Set two saw the Saints put together a 5-0 run to take a 20-16 lead and force a Grizzly timeout. The Saints went on to win it 25-22.
Set three was similar to the second as Seward built out a 14-12 lead which later went to 20-17 before the Saints closed the match out.
Butler was led by 12 kills from sophomore Avery DeLong while sophomore Sarah Sullivan added 10 of her own to go with five digs. Sophomore Laynee Brown finished with 14 digs and sophomore Raven Boone had nine kills. Sophomore Anja Milosevic led with 19 assists.
The Seward duo of Ana Nikolic and Mariana Silva each finished with 10 kills to lead the way for Seward.
Butler returns to the court on Friday in West Plains, Missouri, for a trimatch with MSU-West Plains and Fort Scott. Matches are set for 10 a.m. and noon.
