Butler Volleyball Goes 2-2 at Blue Dragon Classic

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Butler volleyball split a pair of matches on both Friday and Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena as part of the Blue Dragon Classic.
Butler moves to 9-10 on the season. All four matches were straight set sweeps. The Grizzlies have played in 10 consecutive 3-0 sweeps going 4-6 in that span.
Day 1 (Friday)
Butler fell 3-0 to MSU-West Plains (16-25, 12-25, 18-25) on Friday to open the tournament. Butler is now 0-2 vs MSU as they previously lost 3-0 in West Plains on Sept. 13th. Sarah Sullivan led the offensive effort with 10 kills on .308 hitting, also adding 10 digs to lead Butler. Anja Milosevic had 16 assists, four kills and four digs. Sophia Neihouse registered four blocks.
The Grizzles then bounced back with a dominant 3-0 sweep (25-7, 25-11, 25-11) of Labette to close out the Friday slate. Sullivan posted a team-high eight kills, also adding seven digs. Milosevic had 22 assists and three blocks from her setter position. Maggie Miller had four kills and six digs while Laynee Brown led with 12 digs.
Day 2 (Saturday)
The Grizzlies were swept 3-0 (23-25, 21-25, 18-25) by McCook on Saturday morning. Sophia Neihouse led the way with 10 kills for Butler on .476 hitting. Sullivan added nine, swinging .129. Anja Milosevic 25 assists and eight digs. Laynee Brown led with 12 digs.
The final match at the Blue Dragon Classic for the Grizzlies was a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-21) win over Iowa Western. Butler previously fell 3-0 to the Reivers at the Reiver Classic to begin the season. This time around, Sullivan slammed home 13 kills on .391 hitting, Maggie Miller added a season-high nine kills, Milosevic had 33 assists, three kills and six digs and the Grizzlies pulled out a win.

Butler returns to conference play, traveling to Cloud County for a 6:30 p.m. match on Wednesday in Concordia.
