Grizzlies Season Comes to an End in Region 6 Quarterfinals
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler volleyball saw its season come to a close on Wednesday evening as the No. 4 seed Grizzlies fell 3-1 (18-25, 15-25, 25-23, 21-25) to fifth seeded Garden City at the Power Plant in the Region 6 Quarterfinal round.

Butler's season comes to a close with an 18-15 overall record. It marks the first time since the spring 2021 season that Butler did not advance to the Region 6 championship match. Garden City moves on to play No. 1 seed Barton in Great Bend on Saturday.
The Grizzlies started the match on fire, jumping out to a 5-0 and later 9-1 lead in the first set. Garden City then opened an 8-1 run to cut it to 10-9 Butler lead. Garden City closed the set on a 24-9 run stunning the Grizzlies with a furious comeback.
Butler dropped the second set 25-15 with Garden City leading the whole way. The Grizzlies won a hard fought third set, 25-23 and ultimately fell in the fourth, 25-23.
As a team Butler hit .132 to Garden City's .150. Sophomores Sarah Sullivan and Avery DeLong paced the Grizzlies with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. DeLong tallied a double-double with 13 digs. Sophomore Anja Milosevic added 31 assists and 11 digs while sophomore Laynee Brown led Butler with 16 digs.
