Volleyball Sees 5 Named All-Conference
EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Community College volleyball program saw five student-athletes garner All-Jayhawk Conference honors, voted on by the league coaches.
EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Community College volleyball program saw five student-athletes garner All-Jayhawk Conference honors, voted on by the league coaches.
The Grizzlies had two land first team honors, two land on the second team and one earn an honorable mention selection. Butler finished the season 18-15 and 10-6 in league play, bowing out in the first round of the Region 6 Tournament.
First Team All-KJCCC
Sarah Sullivan, a sophomore outside hitter from Henderson, Nev., was named a first team selection. Sullivan paced the Grizzly offense all season, leading the team with 358 kills and 3.06 kills per set. The 358 kills were fifth best in the league as Sullivan posted 21 matches with double-digit kills including seven straight matches to end the season with 10 or more kills. Sullivan also averaged 2.16 digs per set and 0.62 blocks per set.
Anja Milosevic, a sophomore setter from Belgrade, Serbia, was the other first team pick for the Grizzlies. She earned first team honors as a freshman making her a two-time All-KJCCC player for Butler. Milosevic led the conference in service aces per set (0.61) and ranked second in the league with 7.85 assists per set. Milosevic racked up 895 assists to lead Butler, also leading with 70 service aces and ranking second on the team with 256 digs (2.25 per set). She tallied 12 double-doubles of assists and digs.
Second Team All-KJCCC
Avery DeLong, a sophomore from Overland Park, earned second team honors in her lone season with the Grizzlies. The outside hitter was Butler's second-best offensive threat, averaging 2.43 kills per set (265 total kills) on .233 hitting. She also added 1.31 digs per set and ranked second on the team with 44 service aces. DeLong finished the season totaling 10+ kills in 14 matches including the last four matches of the season
Ryann Hamilton, a freshman OH/MB from Overland Park was named to the second team in her first season of collegiate volleyball. Hamilton ranked second in the conference and led Butler with 1.13 blocks per set. She finished the season with 93 total blocks and 126 kills, fifth best on the team. She finished with six matches of five or more kills.
Honorable Mention All-KJCCC
Sophia Neihouse, a freshman middle blocker from Fort Smith, Ark., was an honorable mention selection. Neihouse averaged 1.86 kills per set, 212 total, third best for the Grizzlies. Her 0.72 blocks per set were also good for third best on the team. Neihouse racked up six matches of 10 or more kills on the season.
