Provencio Joins Butler Volleyball Coaching Staff
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler volleyball head coach Lisa Lechtenberg announced Wednesday the addition of Tori Provencio as the Grizzlies assistant coach.
EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler volleyball head coach Lisa Lechtenberg announced Wednesday the addition of Tori Provencio as the Grizzlies newest assistant coach.
A veteran assistant in the Jayhawk Conference, Provencio joins the Grizzlies after spending nine seasons with the Hutchinson Blue Dragons as an assistant coach.
"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Tori Provencio to the volleyball coaching staff," said Lechtenberg. "She brings so many positives; her wealth of knowledge of the game, ability to build relationships, and her kind, positive approach to all aspects of life. She will strengthen the Butler volleyball program daily."
Provencio spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Hutchinson between 2015 and 2024. She served on Patrick Hall's staff for four seasons (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) and Delice Downing's staff for five seasons (2020-24). The Blue Dragons won two Jayhawk West championships as well as two Region 6 titles with Provencio on staff. She helped mentor three NJCAA All-Americans as well as 39 All-KJCCC picks in her time at Hutch. The Blue Dragons experienced just one losing season and posted five 20+ win seasons across her nine years on staff. She made the move to the Blue Dragon coaching staff immediately following her playing career.
A Derby, Kansas, native, Provencio also holds playing experience in the KJCCC. She was a starting libero at Pratt Community College in 2010 and 2011 and was a member of the Beavers' 2010 Jayhawk West championship team.
As a freshman libero on Pratt's 2010 conference championship team, Provencio tallied 384 total digs and averaged a team-high 3.28 digs per set, which led the Beavers. Provencio led the Beaver back line again in 2011 with 448 total digs and 4.15 digs per set. She earned honorable mention all-Jayhawk West honors in both seasons.
Provencio moved on to play at Newman University from 2013-14 under head coach Natalie Rawson.
She was a four-year starter as a libero at Derby High School. She earned first-team all-AVCTL Division I honors in her senior season of 2009.
Provencio graduated from Pratt Community College in 2012 with an Associate of Science Degree. She graduated from Newman University in 2015 with a Psychology degree. Provencio earned her Master's Degree in education (clinical mental health) from Wichita State University in 2023.
Provencio has one daughter, Summer.
