Butler softball pitcher Cheyenne Handsaker and baseball pitcher Austin Bagnall have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of March 18th through March 24th.

Cheyenne Handsaker (Softball)

Handsaker, a sophomore from Pearl City, IL., was impressive in her two starts, leading Butler to wins in both. On Monday in a win over Hutchinson, Handsaker threw 5.0 shutout innings in the run rule win over the Blue Dragons who have the league’s best offense statistically. She struck out four, walked just one and earned her eighth win of the season. In a road game at Colby, Handsaker threw all 8.0 innings of Butler’s 4-3 extra inning win. Handsaker struck out 12 and walked just two, allowing just one earned run in her 8.0 innings pitched.

Austin Bagnall (Baseball)

Bagnall, a sophomore from Lewisville, Texas, had a career-best performance in a win over Garden City. He tossed a career-high 7.0 shutout innings, striking out a career-high eight and walking just two as he moved his record to 3-1 on the season. Bagnall pitched the final game of the series for Butler helping them to a 4-0 sweep of the Broncbusters.
