Butler track and field sprinter Star Mpama and baseball infielder Anibal Rivera have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of April 8th through April 14th.

Star Mpama (Track & Field)

Star Mpama, a sophomore sprinter from Nigeria, had a great showing at Wichita State’s KT Woodman Classic. Mpama broke the Butler women’s outdoor school record in the 800m, running 2:13.59. Mpama then placed 11th in the 400m running 57.49. Mpama has qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals in early May.

Anibal Rivera (Baseball)

Rivera, a sophomore from Fountain, Colo., helped the Grizzlies to a 4-1 week, hitting .500 (8-16) with four extra base hits including three home runs. He scored 11 runs, drove in seven runs, walked six times compared to just one strikeout while having a slugging % of 1.125. Rivera started all five games at third base with 10 assists, seven putouts and no errors. In a 13-6 win at Pratt he finished 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. In game four of the series with Pratt at home Rivera was 3-3, driving in three runs as he hit a two-run home run, his third of the week.
