Butler Athletics awarded ‘Sports Information Department of the Month’

After one of the most action packed sports semesters in Butler history, the Butler Athletic department was named 'Sports Information Department' of the month during the month of April by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This award is given for outstanding work in the sports information field, including but not limited to; the promotion of student-athletes, the quality and timeliness of information provided, the amount of information presented and appropriately updated on websites, personal responsiveness to media inquiries and going the extra mile in servicing the media.

Tyler Nordman, Butler's Associate Athletic Director, also serves as the sports information director for the athletic department and says it has been a huge team effort this semester.

"It has been a wild semester to say the least," said Nordman, "with all of our sports going at the same time we have had to get extremely creative on how to provide the best media coverage possible to all of our teams. Without our amazing staff and student team, we wouldn't have been able to perform at the level we have this semester, so I am extremely proud of them. If it were not for the team of Matt Jacobs, Ron Castle, Lathe Cobb, Ed Bailey, Wyatt Ebersole, Garret Hanks, Erickson Brown, AJ Jones, Mason Stringer, Chris Krenzin, Ross Cole and everyone else who helped along the way, we wouldn't be able to do what we do."

Butler athletics has hosted over 100 games at home this semester, they have video live streamed 105 home games and another handful on the road in just a four-month span.

"It has been a lot of fun this semester, but I don't want to do it again," added Nordman.

This is the first time the Butler Athletic department has been presented with this award. Other award winners from this year are Northwest Florida State College, Iowa Western and Orange Coast College.
