The Butler Athletic department is looking for students for the upcoming 2021-22 academic year with a handful of scholarships available to work with the Sports Information department!
Athletic Management (Sports Information) students for the Butler Athletic department get the opportunity to work with each of the Grizzlies 11 championship programs on a daily basis. The Sports Information teams main focus is to provide quality media coverage of all the teams, coaches and 300+ student athletes at Butler Community College throughout the school year.
Team members will gain experience in athletic management, video streaming/production, social media, website design and many other areas of college athletics.
This past year, the Butler Sports Information department was recognized on a national level during the month of April being selected as the 'Sports Information Department' of the month by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Butler team provided coverage of 249 Butler games from January 21st to June 4th. They live streamed 112 events (105 at home) this past year with over 102,000 total views during the spring semester.
"Working in the athletic department here at Butler has given me many opportunities and allowed me to work closely in sports in a way that has been simply amazing," said freshman Ericson Brown (Augusta, KS). "Getting to work closely with players and coaches at Butler has given me an experience you can't get at too many other places. Along with working with such a great group of people, working in the athletic department at Butler made my experience here nothing short of amazing."
"Working in the athletic department has been such an enjoyable experience," commented freshman Garrett Hanks (El Dorado, KS). "Butler has one of the top sport departments in the nation and being able to work and learn under a great staff makes it worthwhile. Getting into the athletic department gave me a great opportunity to join the Wichita Wind Surge media team, which has also been a blast. I have to thank Tyler Nordman and the rest of the Butler crew for making the athletic department so enjoyable."
