54 Grizzlies land on NJCAA All-Academic team, Five Butler Programs named All-Academic Teams

Butler student-athletes were recognized on a national level as 54 Grizzlies were named to the prestigious list of National Junior College Athletic Association All-Academic team members while five Butler programs were named to the All-Academic team list this year.

The Grizzlies had a total of 17 students (seven sports represented in total) earn First Team All-Academic honors (4.00 GPA). Another 16 student-athletes earned Second Team honors and 21 picked up Third Team All-Academic honors. The women's soccer team led the way with 13 student-athletes earning All-Academic honors with football placing 11 on the list and softball nine.

Five Butler team programs had a 3.00 cumulative GPA or better, with soccer having the top Grizzly team distinction earning a 3.48 GPA this past year as a team. In addition to soccer, volleyball finished with a 4.42 while women's cross country tallied a 3.27. Softball recorded a 3.20 team GPA while the baseball team finished with a 3.36 team GPA

The NJCAA announced the 2021-22 All-Academic Teams, recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom on Monday, July 11th. A total of 9,912 student-athletes have been honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60 across the association. A total of 1,061 teams also made the list for All-Academic teams

Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2021-22 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
