Butler Softball's Shayna Espy named National 'Player of the Week'

For the first time this season, sophomore outfielder Shayna Espy has been named the NJCAA Div. I Softball 'Player of the Week'.

Espy, Olathe, KS native, went 11-14 at the plate for a batting average of .786 last week in the Grizzlies four road wins. Espy scored six runs, drove in 11 RBI's had three doubles and three triples in her four games played. Espy didn't strike out last week, was walked once and stole three bags. Espy leads Butler in stolen bases (19) this season and has a team high five triples on the year. Espy is hitting .604 on the year with a 1.075 slugging average. She is third in the entire NJCAA in batting average at .604 and has helped the Grizzlies to the top spot in batting average this season.

Espy was also recognized as the KJCCC 'Player of the Week' for her second time this season.
