CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Butler softball will open the 2024 season ranked No. 15 in the NJCAA Softball D1 Preseason Poll.
The Grizzlies are the top ranked KJCCC team to begin the season, ranked two spots ahead of No. 17 Hutchinson.
A season ago Butler won its seventh straight Region VI championship and eighth consecutive Plains District Championship on the way to a seventh straight NJCAA National Tournament appearance. The Grizzlies entered the 2023 season ranked seventh.
There are eight returning players on the 2024 roster highlighted by Cady Dickey, JaKeyla McDaniel and Aly Hageman who all earned All-KJCCC honors in their freshman campaigns.
The Grizzlies were also picked to win the KJCCC in the 2024 KJCCC Division I preseason coaches poll, released on Jan. 18.
Butler was set to open its season this weekend in Galveston for the Galveston College Island Invitational but will no longer be attending due to rain in the area. The current season opener is set for Feb. 16 in Lufkin, Texas, vs. Monroe College. For any new games added to the schedule, announcements will be made on ButlerGrizzlies.com or on the Butler Grizzlies social media accounts.
