Butler Gets Season Sweep of Pratt

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler softball run ruled the Pratt Beavers twice in a doubleheader sweep at East Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Butler (34-6, 22-2 KJCCC) moved its winning streak to 14 games and is 4-0 vs. the Beavers this season after previously winning two in Pratt on March 6th. Pratt (6-30, 2-18) has now lost 14 consecutive games.

The Grizzlies return to action on Saturday with a road doubleheader at Hutchinson, 1 p.m. first pitch.

Game 1: Butler 8, Pratt 0 (5 inn.)

Butler held the Beavers to just one hit in the game as starter Cheyenne Handsaker (W, 14-2) threw all 5.0 shutout innings, striking out four and walking two.

The Grizzlies plated two runs in the first, four in the fourth and two in the fifth as they cruised to an 8-0 victory.

Claire Lopez was 3-3 with a run driven in while Chloe Cardona and Caylee Mann each drove in two runs. JaKeyla McDaniel and Kyrsten Moran each registered two hit performances while McDaniel also swiped two bags. Moran ended the game with an RBI single to left field in the fifth to make it 8-0.

Game 2: Butler 10, Pratt 2 (6 inn.)

Pratt led 2-1 after the third inning of game two but Butler spouted off nine unanswered runs, ultimately winning 10-2 in six innings.

Chloe Odle (W, 11-4) threw all 6.0 innings for her sixth complete game of the season. She allowed two earned runs on three hits, striking out 10 and walking nine.

Pratt's Kaylee Smith hit a two-run home run in the top of the third, taking a 2-1 lead.

Butler's Alivia Darbe tied the game in the fourth with a solo home run making it 2-2.

The Grizzlies were aided by four errors from Pratt, scoring two runs off errors and a run off a wild pitch.

Kyrsten Moran was 2-2, scoring three runs and walking three times. Darbe drove in two runs to lead Butler.
