Butler Women's Softball players Allyson Montgomery and Briona Woods have been selected as Butler Grizzly Athletes of the Week, presented by White Eagle Credit Union.

#7 Allyson Montgomery

Allyson Montgomery, the Grizzlies sophomore pitcher from Goddard, Kansas had an amazing week of action in the circle for the Butler Softball team in their four run-rule conference victories. Montgomery made two starts for the Grizzlies both complete-game shut-outs for the Butler ace. Allyson pitched ten innings giving up only six hits walking five batters while striking out eighteen. Montgomery’s best game was against Northwest Kansas Tech on Butler Softball sophomore day in which she walked no batters and struck out ten. Montgomery still leads the KJCCC in strikeouts with 211 this season. She is also tied for first in the KJCCC in wins this season with 21 and is second in ERA at 2.08 through 138 innings pitched.

#13 Briona Woods

Briona Woods the Grizzlies sophomore from Clearwater, KS had an incredible week at the plate in Butler Softball’s four run-rule conference victories. Woods batted .716 (10/14) on the week with fourteen RBIs. Briona also had an amazing five homeruns on the week. Woods hit for the cycle in game two of the doubleheader with Northwest KS Tech. She began with an in-the-park home run, followed by a triple, a single, and finally a double to claim the cycle and a perfect batting average in the game. The Grizzlies center fielder also had a perfect week in the field with two put outs and no errors. Woods is now second in the conference in homeruns with 17 this season and has a season batting average of .446.
