Grizzlies split with Beavers in final regular season games at McDonald Stadium

Butler closed out the regular season at McDonald Stadium with their fourth walk-off victory this season inside the Mac Shack as Jonah Cox hit a two-run homerun to walk it off in the bottom of the eight winning by run-rule 11-1 over The Beavers.

The Grizzlies fell in a close one 7-6 in game one. The game was tied at 5-5 in the top of the fifth when Jake Carroll hit a two-run homerun giving Pratt the lead. An RBI triple by Tanner Leslie in the bottom of the sixth goth the Grizzlies back within one, but they were unable to plate another falling 7-6 in game one.

Game two was a different story. Coming off a no hitter a week ago, Braden Meek took to the mound and delivered a strong seven innings in the Grizzlies 11-1 run-rule victory improving to 7-2 on the season. Meek gave up one run off five hits walking none and striking out five batters. Spencer Maley finished things off in the eighth keeping the Beavers scoreless off two hits while having to throw 30 pitches to get all three outs. Jonah Cox was the star in game two as he hit a walk-off two-run homerun in the bottom of the eight to close out the Beavers in run-rule fashion.

Jonah Cox was 2-4 with two runs scored and three RBI's in game two and finished 4-6 with five total RBI's on the day. Cox had two homeruns, a double and a stolen base on the day. Jaren Jackson had a double driving in two runs in the game.

NEXT UP: Butler will close out the regular season on the road Saturday, May 8th at Pratt in games three and four of the series. They are battling for second place in the Jayhawk West with Seward and Barton. They will need to pick up two wins at Pratt Saturday and get a little help from Garden City and Cloud to have any kind of chance at hosting a Sub-Regional next weekend.
