Butler drops pair on the road to Tigers

The Butler Grizzlies dropped a pair of games to the sixth ranked Cowley Tigers in non-conference action in Arkansas City on Saturday, losing game one 7-1 before a 12-2 defeat in game two.

Game 1

Hayden Dyer found the only extra base hit in the first game of the day, as his double was one of just six hits as the Grizzlies were stifled by the Tigers pitching. Butler found their only run of the day in the seventh inning as Josh Holmes scored on a double steal.

Game Two

Butler totaled two runs on three hits in the second game of the day, Sam Siegel and Jaren Jackson earning the two RBIs. Josh Holmes and Paul Schoenfeld both stole bases but the offense was few and far between for the Grizzlies in the defeat.

The four game sweep will drop Butler's record to 28-22 on the year. They will look to bounce back with a nonconference game against Coffeyville on tuesday before a conference series against Garden City starting with two games in western Kansas on Thursday before returning home to McDonald Stadium on Saturday.
