The Butler football team stayed undefeated on the season with a 70-20 road win at Fort Scott, Butler's third road win in four games to start the season.

The Grizzlies, ranked fifth in the NJCAA poll, scored 28 points in the first 17 minutes of the game and rolled from there. Butler led 42-6 at the half on their way to scoring 70 points for the first time in more than two years.

Butler is now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Jayhawk Conference play, keeping the Grizzlies tied atop the standings with Coffeyville.

Justice Hansen led the Butler attack with his legs and his arm. The quarterback ran eight times for 152 yards and three touchdowns of 34, 15 and 36 yards), while also completing 11 of 18 passes for 180 yards and one more touchdown on a 22-yard pass to Diantae Thomas.

He ran for 34 yards on Butler's first play from scrimmage for a touchdown. On Fort Scott's next play following the kickoff, Desean Washington came up with an interception and the tone had been set for the evening.

The Grizzlies also got a pair of 1-yard rushing touchdowns from Kobe McCrary, who continues his streak of having multiple touchdowns in all four Butler games this season. He now has nine touchdowns on the year. 

Ra'Keim Abdul (15 yards), Trenton Autry  (3 yards) and Keshaun McGaugh (19 yards) all scored their first collegiate touchdowns. Butler also got a 24-yard scoring pass from Colton Howell to Byron Pringle.

Ladarius McElroy had two catches for 87 yards for Butler, while Diantae Thomas had five catches for 57. Fort Scott got three rushing touchdowns from Devin Taylor, who had 19 carries for 91 yards.

Sean Rodriguez was Butler's leading tackler with 11 stops, eight of which were solo. Kicker Lane Brewer was perfect kicking the ball, making all 10 extra points he attempted.

Butler will be at home next Saturday to take on Air Force Prep at 7 p.m. Prep is coming off a 25-22 win at Garden City on Thursday.

NOTES: The 70 points is the most since a 79-0 win over Independence on Sept. 14, 2013… It's the second-most points Butler has ever scored against Fort Scott, only behind a 76-20 win at home in 2003… It is the most points Butler has ever scored at Frary Field in Fort Scott… Butler has scored 70 or more points 14 times in school history… after losing twice to Fort Scott in the 2009 season, Butler has won six straight over the Greyhounds by an average score of 56-12… This is the first game in which Butler has not scored a special teams or defensive touchdown this season. The Grizzlies had four such scores in the first three weeks of the year.
