94-yard punt return earns Durham Special Teams ‘Player of the week’ honors

For the second time this season, sophomore return specialist JaQuez Durham picks up Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Special Teams 'Player of the week' honors after an electrifying punt return in the third quarter of Saturday night's 27-0 shutout victory over Air Force Prep.

Durham's 94-yard punt tied him for second longest punt return in school history tying him with LeRoy Barrier who accomplished this feat back on Oct. 4, 1946 against Chanute, while Charley Lively holds the record with a 96-yard touchdown at Pratt on Nov. 15, 1958

With no blockers in front of him, Durham fielded the football near the left hash mark at his own six-yard line and made his way towards the home sideline. After a quick move and breaking a few tackles Durham took off up the sideline behind an escort of teammates all 94-yards for the score.

Durham had three other punt returns in the game for an average of 24 yards per return.

Durham leads the NJCAA in four punt return categories, total punt returns (22), return yards (282), touchdowns (2) and long (94).

This is Durham's second time being named KJCCC 'Player of the Week' and the Grizzlies fifth time to earn the honor through eight weeks of the season.
