Eddie Lewis named NJCAA First Team All-American

Butler football player Eddie Lewis was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American list announced the association Monday afternoon.

Lewis, the sophomore transfer from New Monmouth, NJ, was selected as a First Team member of the All-American team after he shined offensively in just six games played this spring with the Grizzlies.

Eddie Lewis was named First Team All-American after putting together a stellar season in the wide receiver position for the Grizzlies. Lewis finished second in the KJCCC in total receiving yards with 512-yards in just his six games played. He was 5th in the NJCAA in yards/game at 85.3. Lewis scored four touchdowns with a his longest of the season on a 78-yard catch and run for a score. Lewis averaged 22.3 yards per catch and finished with 23 total receptions. Lewis caught for 100+ yards in three of his six games with a season high 173 yards coming against the No. 1 Blue Dragons. Lewis was honored as the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference 'Offensive Player of the Year' as well as being selected as a First team All-KJCCC member.

Eddie Lewis becomes the 143rd Grizzly football player to achieve this prestigious national honor since 1981. Butler Football has had at least one All-American selected in 36 of the past 38 seasons (no selections in 1982 or 2017).
