Butler football elevates Haremza and Woodall into coordinator positions

With the hiring of new head coach Brice Vignery, former assistants Nate Haremza and Kyle Woodall have been elevated into the coordinators.

Nate Haremza, now in the middle of his fourth full season as part of the staff, will take over as the offensive coordinator for a team that finished third in the entire NJCAA this past fall in points per game at 41.0. Haremza will still work directly with the offensive line, a position he has held through his four seasons. Last fall, Haremza coached first team All-Jayhawk center Seth Falley, along with three other All-Jayhawk lineman that saw the Butler offense lead the KJCCC in scoring 41.0 and rushing yards per game 215.3. Nate's run game totaled 28 touchdowns on 2,153 total yards on the ground.

In just his four seasons with Butler, Nate has coached 15 All-KJCCC offensive lineman and sent 21 to the Div. I level, an average of over five per year.

Haremza played at Butler under Hall of Fame coach Troy Morrell from 2010-11. As a player at Butler, Haremza was a two-time All-Jayhawk Conference selection at offensive guard. He helped the Grizzlies win two conference titles and two NJCAA National Championship runner-ups. while finishing with a 22-2 record.

"I am so happy to keep him on staff," commented head coach Brice Vignery who started his first season on staff when Nate played at Butler. "Nate brings such a wealth of knowledge to our program, not only as a former player at Butler but as a coach for the last four seasons. I am excited to see him in his new role as Offensive Coordinator as he is without a doubt ready for this next step in his career."

Kyle Woodall, who is in his seventh year on staff with the Grizzlies, was elevated to the Defensive Coordinator announced head coach Brice Vignery. Woodall has been the 'jack of all trades' during his tenure with the Grizzlies coaching multiple positions on both sides of the ball.

Woodall will continue his role as the Strength and Conditioning coach along with working closely with the linebackers.

Woodall played at Butler from 2006-2007 under Hall of Fame coach Troy Morrell, helping the Grizzlies to a 23-1 overall record and winning the Region VI and Jayhawk Conference championships both seasons. Woodall was college roommate at Butler with current head coach Brice Vignery.

In 2007, Woodall was a team captain on Butler's NJCAA National Championship squad that finished with a perfect 12-0 record. During that season, Woodall earned honorable mention All-Jayhawk Conference honors at safety.

"It was an easy decision for me to promote Kyle to Defensive Coordinator," mentioned Vignery. "He and I have a long relationship not only as teammates in 2006-07 but as coaches for the last seven seasons. Woody (Woodall) is Butler through and through. With his passion for the players along with his football knowledge, I expect our defense to resemble that and play with a lot of discipline and passion."
