Butler men fall at home to No. 15 Barton

The Butler men could complete a sweep of nationally-ranked teams this week, falling 71-62 to No. 15 Barton at the Power Plant just three days after a road win over No. 12 Hutchinson.

The loss breaks a five-game Butler winning streak over Barton, dating back to the first game between the two in January 2009.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the early going on buckets by Justin Simmons and Zac Bargen and a 3-pointer from Lane Lindhorst. Barton would slowly battle back, taking the lead 13-12 midway through the half and leading 28-24.

Barton used a surge at the start of the second half to extend the lead to double digits, where it stayed most of the game until the Grizzlies made a run late to cut the final deficit to nine points.

Sean Osler led the Grizzlies with 19 points in the game while Jal'n Williams and Zac Bargen had nine points apiece and Cameron Cornelius added eight. Bargen also had a team-high nine rebounds two assists in the game.

Barton had four players in double figures, led by Carl Wallace with 14 and Algie Key with 13.

Butler drops to 7-10 on the season, 1-2 in Jayhawk West Conference play. Barton improves to 16-2 on the season, 2-2 in Jayhawk West Conference action.
For Butler, the next action is a long road trip to Colby on Wednesday, followed by a home game next Saturday against Pratt at the Power Plant.
