Greg Franklin named Men’s Indoor Head Coach of the Year

After coaching the Butler men to a Region VI Runner-up finish, head coach Greg Franklin has been named the Region VI Men's Indoor Coach of the Year.

"This award is all about the special group of student athletes I get to work with everyday," said Franklin. "Without them believing in me and our training program we wouldn't be having the success that we are and I am thankful for that."

Franklin, who took over the role of head coach in August, has pieced together a team that isn't spread out across the board event wise, but has a ton of firepower in the sprints and that showed this past weekend. Franklin and his team of sprinters finished first, second and eighth in the 60 meter dash, first and second in the 60 meter hurdles, second and sixth in the 200 meter, second, third and seventh in the 400 meter run while also coaching the 4x400 relay team to a second place finish.

Franklin was awarded Assistant Coach of the Year a season ago and now has been recognized for his work on the men's side as a head coach in one of the toughest conferences in the country.
